Sooo…Kristen invited me to volunteer with her at the Michael W. Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman concert on Friday. And anytime I can balance out my debauchery with a good deed, I will. The guys are on tour to promote Compassion International. Compassion is a church based program that offers support to children who may not otherwise have been given a chance. Many of the children are in HIV infected areas and have lost one or both of their parents. The program helps children to receive an education, medicines and grow their spirtual needs as well. As I passed out information to the audience who clearly was there to see the concert first, and learn about the cause second, I realized that maybe it wasn’t so much about me trying to get them to make a difference in a child’s life, but that I myself needed to be the change. So, after spending a Friday night volunteering, I walked away with a heart full of love and obedience for the Lord, and with a Compassion child. Geoffrey is 6 years old and from Kenya…and he has my heart.
