My #8 of #35 is that this is the first time I’ve ever owned a Georgia Park Pass. The last few years have seen an increase in my visits to state parks, so I figured it was about time to buy the pass. Also – we do new things all the time, so #8 is a nod to the fact that every “new thing” I do this year isn’t going to involve some extravagant plan or passport stamp. We should celebrate the new things we do everyday!
I had been eyeing the weather for this weekend since Monday, and knew that today was going to be one of those glorious fall days that demanded your time and attention. And having a weekend day without any pressing plans frees one up to be a bit selfish with their time – so I took the 2 hour drive up to my favorite hike in Georgia – Cloudland Canyon. The West Rim.
*Side note. There are a LOT of trails in Georgia that I’ve yet to do, so “favorite” may change. But, for now, it stands.
I’m a week or two early to see the leaves fully give in to their color transition, but it was still a perfect day to linger on the trail. Cloudland has all of these little nooks with sitting rocks for you to enjoy. And the view of the canyon is really something to behold.
Page joined me today, but she was not in the mood to be photographed, as evident by this photo:
With Machu Picchu 7 months away. The weather being irresistible. And the fact that I’m now a proud owner of a Georgia Park Pass. I’m hoping to get out and try some new parks/trails around the state. If you’ve got a favorite that I should try, let me know! Or, if you’d like to accompany me on one, that’d be even better!
Also, high-fives go out to Kristen, Keitha, Jillian and my boss, Jerri, whose words over the past few weeks have reminded me that I’m enough. Who speak to my heart with truth and grace. Who encourage bold choices. And celebrate my story with me. It’s easy to do life when you’re surrounded by people who welcome the vulnerable parts of you and rejoice with anticipation in what the future holds.
