Cambodia – The Retreat

It’s always good before you go take on the Lord’s will in a foreign country to know who you’ll be serving with. So, we snuck off to a place on Oconee to do just that.

One of the things that brings people together is  sharing our testimony. Everyone’s story is different, some are painful, but those who love the Lord find peace in that pain. Find grace in His forgiveness. And at the end of every story is someone who is in love with the Lord, despite their story.

We also discussed our plans for the trip. This is just a rough timeline, but it appears that we will be attending church in Phenom Penh on Sunday, and then loading up buses with the kids to head to the beach for two days! A (10 hour) bus ride back to the orphanage on Monday and then 4 days of a “vacation bible school” schedule. Peppered into the week will be a dinner with local business men, as well as some outreach programs for the community.

Each team member was assigned a group of kids to pray for. These are my kids:

                  TAKNA                                      YA                                                 THY

Such sweet faces. May my time over there be spent showing these kids love, and reminding them that they are worth something.

Also, during our weekend adventure, we decided that as a team, we would do the Daniel Fast in preparation for our trip.

Daniel 10:2-3: In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.

So, let’s recap that verse – no pleasant food. no meat or wine. ?!?!?! While, this is not something I am looking forward to, I will participate with my team. I will also be dreaming of the end of that three weeks so I can have a steak and potatoes. If you think about me between June 3 and June 23rd…say a little prayer for me.    🙂
